With its Riesling Trail already leading the way to the discovery of some of the best Clare Valley wines, a food trail will now be added to a list of attractions in the region.

Via a new online, interactive map showcasing some of the region’s epicurean delights, the Clare Valley Food Trail  features almost 40 local producers, restaurants, eateries, cellar doors and farm gate businesses all in one easy-to-use website.

An offshoot of the popular South Australia Tourism Commission’s Epicurean Way website, the Clare Valley Food Trail provides information about where sites are located, what they have to offer, opening times, and other useful information.

Regional Development Australia tourism coordinator, Deb Przibilla, says the Clare Valley has so much to offer for food lovers and, of course, complements the region’s famous wine and spectacular countryside.

“The Food Trail showcases our top restaurants through to our producers and farm gate so it covers a broad range of amazing food that is produced, cooked and delivered in the Clare Valley,” Deb says.

“It really is a one-stop-shop for our epicurean travellers through the Clare Valley.

“We have vineyard restaurants, gourmet pub fare, romantic dining, cafes, provedore outlets, and farm gate sales,” she adds.

Everything from stress-free lamb, pork, beef and free-range chicken and eggs, through to wholegrain pastas and biodynamic grain products, honey and carob, and fresh fruit, Deb says even award-winning olive oils, jams, condiments and chutney are listed, with “each product telling its own story”.

The new Clare Valley Food Trail is a joint venture of Clare Valley Cuisine, Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North, and the South Australian Tourism Commission.

Clare Valley Cuisine chairperson and Skillogalee head chef, Nicola Palmer, says the trail promotes a cohesive approach by local producers, chefs and farm gate businesses to bring people to the region.

“I think the food scene in the Valley has been drawing more and more attention over the last few years to value adding their products and I think the map will consolidate that,” Nicola says.

“We’ve got amazing restaurants and amazing producers but people coming to the Valley don’t know about these places so the website will help people know where they can get this wonderful food.”
