A new medical recruitment website launched in partnership with a South Australian company is like the “SEEK.com.au for doctors around the world”.
This is how Adelaide’s HWR Media & Communications chief executive, Tom Raggatt, describes the WONCA Recruitment website which launches in Denmark today (June 16).
It’s a joint venture between HWR Media & Communications and the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA).
“While the website offers health professionals international job opportunities, it’s also an avenue for those working overseas to find employment in South Australia’s medical field and other parts of Australia,” Tom says.

The website allows family doctors, nurses and allied health professionals to search international positions.
Businesses, medical practices and individuals can also use the site to attract professionals from all parts of the globe.
“There was no global portal or employment website for family doctors… nothing was ticking boxes for these professionals to find work in different parts of the world,” Tom says.
WONCA has strong links to South Australia.
Co-founded in 1972 by Adelaide doctor, David Game, who passed away last year, WONCA now has 140 member organisations in 150 countries and territories, representing 550,000 family doctors.
WONCA’s current President, Professor Michael Kidd, is also the head of the medical teaching faculty at Flinders University.

The website was ‘soft’ launched at WONCA’s European conference in Istanbul last year.
Tom and Michael are attending the official launch at this year’s conference in Copenhagen, where Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is the patron.
“We’re thrilled to launch WONCA Recruitment after years of hard work. We know this will be a vital tool for connecting skilled health professionals with fantastic job opportunities,” Tom says.
“We’ll continue to work hard to improve the site as it evolves. It’s rewarding to know we’re making a difference in such an important industry,” he adds.
