When coffee met vodka, magic happened.

Invented, it’s said, in 1980’s London at the request of an unnamed supermodel looking to stay awake late into the Soho night, the espresso martini has become a cult favourite in bars around the world.

The rise in coffee culture, and bartenders creating their own twist on the tipple, has seen the drink reach new heights in recent years – and Adelaide is no exception.

With a growing reputation as a cocktail capital, flourishing local bars are renowned for their own unique take on the caffeinated cocktail.

So it’s no surprise it has finally happened: a festival. Dedicated to espresso martinis.

The first event of its kind in Adelaide,  Espresso Martini Festival ADL takes place over two days in Rymill Park, featuring local food, live music, masterclasses, tastings, VIP experiences, and a competition to find the city’s best espresso martini.

Designed to showcase the city’s buzzy bar scene, Alfred’s Bar, BRKLYN, Electra House, Bank Street Social, Mr Goodbar, Mississippi Moon, Electra House, The William Bligh and La Moka will compete in the showdown.

They may be tasked with making the best espresso martini – but you get to judge.

Along with an expert panel, there’s also ‘people’s choice’ award, so you can sample the selections and cast your vote.
